Selecting A Personal Trainer in San Diego
By: Phoenix Delray Digg!

Selecting a Personal Trainer is one of the most important steps that you can take towards the goal of improved health. This decision is a representation of a commitment of both your time and money, and will go a long way towards helping you achieve your fitness goals.

Personal trainers are highly trained professionals, and most hold a Bachelors degree in exercise science and, or in addition, are licensed physical therapists or athletic trainers. When you are interviewing potential trainers, be sure to ask about their certifications and accreditations, and whether they are affiliated with the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, or NCAA. Keep in mind, however, that certifications that have been accreditated recently may not be listed on the website, which is why you shold also request to see a hardcopy of the certification whenever possible.

Make sure to check with your doctor before you begin an exercise program or new fitness regime, and let your physician know if you are considering the addition of dietary supplements to your new routine as well, since they will be able to suggest the best types for your individual nutritional needs and fitness level. You should also get as many recommendations from friends and co workers, since, chances are, most of them probably have a personal trainer of their own.

When you are searching for a trainer, gyms and health clubs are both great places to start, since this is where most trainers meet with their clients. Discuss your fitness goals and ask them for recommendations about how to achieve them. Remember, thought that certification as a trainer does not mean that the person is also a nutritionist, doctor, or other type of healthcare provider, and should not recommend any supplements or diagnose any conditions unless they are appropriately certified to do so. Your trainer should also be aware of proper exercise safety procedures, and should have basic first aid skills in the event of an injury.

Make sure to tell your new trainer about your level of fitness experience, your current fitness level, your goals, and any medical conditions and any dietary restrictions that you may have. It is in your best interest to be completely honest with your new San Diego personal trainer, and to stick to the diet and exercise plan that is presented to you. DO all of these things, and follow the above tips, and you will soon see amazing fitness results.
