Be Ready To Face Pregnancy Morning Sickness
By: Apurvashree Digg!
Is not it ironic that pregnancy morning sickness is the most common picture of a happy and healthy pregnant state? Although, it is also true that some women do not experience nausea at all, the fact remains that over half of all pregnant women have to deal with it. A common misconception that it arrives only in the morning has to do something with the nomenclature morning sickness. However, it is a misnomer, as vomiting feeling may arrive in the afternoons or evenings as well.

Unless you have experienced this feeling of nausea yourself, it is impossible to understand its accompanying misery. Some women experience morning sickness in the first trimester of their pregnancy, but some experience it all through their nine months.

What Causes Morning Sickness?

There are no clear-cut causes of sickness. There are a number of things that may contribute to this sickness.

Some doctors tell us that the major cause of the nausea is the surge of hormone HCG during pregnancy. This hormone is released by the egg, and is responsible for the rise in progesterone. Progesterone is the main culprit in causing nausea. Your degree of sickness is directly proportionate to the amount of HCG being secreted by the egg.

If you are carrying more than one child, you may experience double trouble. The first trimester can be especially bad.

If you have suffered from pregnancy nausea in your earlier pregnancies, chances are that you will experience the same again.

Some women are so sensitive to these hormones, that they experience nausea even when on birth control pills. Such women are more likely to suffer from pregnancy nausea.

Nausea is also linked to genetics. Therefore, if your mother suffered from it, chances are that you too would experience it.

Women, who are prone to migraines, also have a higher likelihood of experiencing nausea.

How To Get Relief From Morning Sickness?

Some of these measures may be just right for your nausea relief or cure.

Avoiding smells that induce nausea in your case makes immense sense. If some smell makes you nauseous, get as far away from it as possible. Taking a shower also helps at times.
Citrus fruits and crackers help in keeping nausea away. It is a good idea to keep a jar of crackers next to your bed at night.
Try to eat smaller, carbohydrate- rich food portions. Avoid foods that smell bad to your body. Pay attention to your bodys intelligent signals.
Avoid rich, spicy, fat-laden, acid-producing, fried foods, when you feel sick.
Take your vitamins at night, preferably with a carbohydrate-rich meal. Ask your doctor about taking vitamin B6.
Drink gallons of liquid. Water is the best drink in pregnancy.
If nothing works for you, try acupuncture or acupressure.

While there certainly is not any sure cure for this malady, with all these above-mentioned measures, you can easily combat your pregnancy morning sickness.
