About the restaurant:
Have lunched at Pontini a number of times and have never been disappointed in it. The decor and ambience is most certainly modern Italian. I have never seen it full, but even on days when it has had more lunchers than normal it is still comfortable to have a business discussion without fear that your secret strategy will be overheard by those sitting beside you.
The wine selection is first rate and the service is friendly, efficient and not at all overbearing.
Ordered Food:
Went with classic Italian fare. Started with antipasto, first rate, tasty, rare, peppery with lots of olives and other italian goodies, almost enough for a main course. Moved onto the Risotto, mushroom if I recall. Serve size was perfect, heat still in the dish right to the bottom but not mouth burning on first taste. No desert for me, but those that did enjoyed variety of tartufo and baci. Yum all round.
The food really was outstandingly excellent, and best to go with the recommendations of the very excellent and well versed staff. They know their food and they seem to know what I am feeling like each time.
My verdict:
This is a great place to go for a great lunch or dinner. Lunchtime has lots of ladies who lunch and lots of local and expat business people who know where to find excellent food without the crush.
Service is as fast as you want it to be. If you are in a hurry let the staff know and the food will come out as you want it to. If you are not in a hurry, they will check to see how long you want between each course.
I manage to get there three or four times each year, and never been disappointed. Must be time for another visit soon!
