About the restaurant:
One in a line of dozens of eateries that line Boat Quay, this is one worth seeking out. Pleasant risverside ambience, unusually comfy chairs, and friendly, knowledgeable attentive service.
Ordered Food:
I started with the complementary poppadums, perfectly crisp and freshly made, served with mango chutney and a chilli minty coriander dip. Very more-ish, and the waiter asked if I wanted another helping, pointing out that it was complementary.
Then as a starter, Delhi ka samosa, a house special. These are pyramids of pastry stuffed with mildly spiced potato, cashew nuts and raisins. Probably better for two, but being in a greedy mood I scoffed the lot.
This was followed by a delicately spiced chicken curry with black pepper, jeera Basmati rice, tandoori roti, and an onion salad. The chicken was succulent and tender, the rice fragrent, the roti fresh and crisp, and the onions plentiful and crunchy.
Washed down with a few cold Tigers, a perfect relaxing start to a lazy Friday afternoon.
My verdict:
Excellent quality is matched by attentive service with a real attention to detail and willingness to explain the menu.
The final bonus was being given the manager's card with a promise of a 20% discount on my next visit, which will be soon!
