About the restaurant:
While Go India exudes an inviting and soothing environment with comfortable seating (both indoor and outdoor) and a nice view of the water (again, from both venues) and a sleek look, the lunch buffet that lured us in (and is strategically placed at the front of the restaurant), was disappointing.
Ordered Food:
After reading the a la carte menu, we decided to go with the buffet for two reasons. First, our server informed us that if we ordered a la carte, it could take as long as thirty minutes to get our food (depending on the item ordered). We were quite hungry and didn't want to wait that long. Second, the a la carte menu prices were a bit steep (for lunch, especially). So, buffet it was. Correction, we did order one appetizer that was recommended in a previous review (the eggplant roll in a peanut sauce). It arrived in a timely manner and was interesting in both taste and presentation. It was good, but I didn't find it to be as "WOW" as was described.
Now, to the buffet. The normally-boneless chicken chunks of one dish had bones in more than half of the pieces sampled (quite a surprise to my husband, who nearly broke a tooth and choked). The lamb dish had a nice sauce, but was very fatty. The rice dish was very dry. The naan that was served was hot and good and the dhaal chickpea dish was tasty. They also had an exotic choice of "snake", but we weren't brave enough to go there! There was a mediocre fish curry and a few other veggie dishes (didn't try those as I was already underwhelmed). There was a nice, fresh salad buffet offering as well as desserts. The latter consisted of four varieties of cakes as well as some vanilla (store bought) ice cream. Two of the cakes sampled were dry and tasteless (read...STALE). The chocolate and carrot cakes, however, were nice and the ice cream, of course, went well with the above. But, honestly, that was my favorite part of the meal (and we normally LOVE Indian food!!!). The spread also offered nice, hot, bold coffee. Nice of the management to offer this for no charge...but I guess it's all that they could do, considering the price for a single glass of coke/coke light or iced tea turned out to be $6.00!!! Yes, I almost fell over...so, a $20 lunch "bargain" is nearly always inflated to $26 if you have a thirst for anything but water and coffee.
My verdict:
Live and learn and DON'T "Go India"!!!
