Known to be a food haven, the eastern end of Singapore, with its numerous eateries, has allured many food lovers and left them satiated. However, some of these eateries have to be sought in order to be found. In the quaint corner of Upper East Coast area is Zuko, an enclave for those seeking fine French cuisine, away from the hustle and bustle of city life. Taking on a simple decor which is non-ostentatious, one could easily miss the restaurant. Here at Zuko, the food speaks for itself, bringing its name far and beyond the boundaries of the eastern end alone. Many have come for a taste of the delectable cuisines served and left, impressed.
The Vibe
Its casual theme attracts followers who have a taste for fine quality food at an affordable price. The neat and clean-cut ambience with fluorescent lighting puts one back at ease as if dining in one's home-kitchen. Ask for the menu and you will be directed to the dishes written on the chalk-board hanging just beside the dessert counter.
The Food
Serving an array of seafood, meats and even vegetarian dishes, Zuko is set to delight the senses with its exquisite dishes. A worthy appetizer to try will be the mushroom soup ($8.90). The wholesome aromatic fragrance accompanying it was evident of a skiful chef's finesse.
The escargot, when sprinkled with Zuko's specially flown-in cheese was a gourmet treat for the senses. A must-try will be the baby octopus salad dipped in chili sauce. A unique but interestingly delectable appetiser to whet your appetite for more to come. The pasta and seafood lover will be infatuated with the crabmeat and pine nuts pasta. The fusion of juicy fresh crabmeat and the al denté pasta cooked in basil and extra virgin oil was a wise choice for one who wish to have a light and refreshing meal.
The ultimate dish is the Hokubee Ribeye steak. Perfecting this dish is a tedious task that only a talented chef can do. Never has beef alone captivated such an audience. Many have traveled near and far to have just a taste of this award-winning beef steak.
