The Food Town Restaurant features an International Lunch Buffet ($42+++ per person) from 11.30am to 2.30pm. It has an extensive salad bar, carving station, Asian and European dishes, as well as a dessert bar.
The Salmon Brioche is a popular choice at the carving station. The salmon was moist and warm, baked to perfection with a side serving of shellfish sauce which complemented it perfectly. The salad bar consists of 2 sections – the Mediterranean and western, each catering to the different palates of patrons. Not forgetting the dessert bar which has the traditional Chinese cheng tng and the cheese and chocolate mousse cakes which are the hot favourites. Apart from the buffet, the restaurant also offers an a la Carte menu ranging from Japanese to Western cuisines and local fare delights.
For something closer to home, try the Malay Style Chicken Curry ($16). Cooked and served in a clay-pot and accompanied by chutney, the curry chicken was tender and had a spicy “oomph” to it. Adventurous diners can try the John Dory ($36) served with caramelized apple and dressed with fresh herb puree and curry foam. It was a mild dish suitable for those who have less tolerance for spices. The interesting blend of fish, apples and herb puree took a while to get used to. The Crispy Duck Pizza ($18), marinated with sweet hoi sin sauce and garnished with spring onion, cucumber and crispy fried wanton skin would be an excellent choice for the sweet-toothed.
The Service The staff was alert and efficient in changing dirty utensils for cleaner ones, creating a pleasant dining experience. Feel free to approach them if you require any assistance because they are adequately knowledgeable to provide you with the appropriate advise.
