Made in China is the perfect place to bring family and friends for a historical walk down the 'long passageway' as you wait for your food to be served. Statistics on poster-like boards tell of the population of Chinese migrants round the world and as you venture further down the passageway, you are greeted with pictures and waxed statues depicting the lifestyle of Chinese migrants back then and the stories of their lives. It provides a brief summary of overseas Chinese migrants.
As the name of the main hall of the restaurant suggests, Hua Song - in praise of overseas Chinese, therefore the journey takes us on a historical and educational tour for some of us. Those who are more adventurous can opt for an outdoor tour of the Haw Par Villa, at your own leisure which will indeed be an experience for overseas visitors.
The private rooms in the restaurant take the form of smaller rooms like the Clan Hall which is slightly elevated from the main hall. It can accommodate a couple of large tables. Another will be the theatre room consisting mainly of Bruce Lee with about three large tables and the Grand Food Hall has a solo family-sized table. The main hall is spacious and serves large families given the size of the table which can seat many all round.
Seafood lovers will find this restaurant a paradise serving different kinds of freshly poached fish, geoducks, prawns and lobsters prepared in various ways to tantalize your tastebuds. The cripsy peking duck meat used to dish up the fried rice will leave you salivating and taking a bowlful because the rice is so irresistibly tasty and soft and the duck meat is tender and succulent. Even the tofu is not spared. The chef prepared them himself to ensure consistency. It is braised with shitake mushroom and spinach to enhance the flavour and when served piping hot, the dish looks too delicious to resist.
The more health conscious ones can have the chicken in millet wine which is delectably appetising and the shark's fin with fish maw pumpkin soup which is scrumptious.
