Earning its mark as one of Singapore 's top iconic tourist destination in the recent years, Mount Faber Hill has escalated its process further with wine and dine activities at the Jewel box, Faber Hill Bistro and even to the extent of dining in the cable cars. Serving locals and tourists alike, this one-stop destination is bound to impress.
The Vibe Just a stretch off the main heartbeat of Mount Faber lies this chill-out bistro serving drinks and food all day long. Unlike the Jewel Box and the Altivo which exudes a certain Moulin rogue charm, Faber Hill Bistro incorporates a laid-back concept for casual dining akin to having a meal in your own backyard. Only difference is the breathtaking partial view of the cityscape and fresh sea breeze you are privileged to enjoy here.
The Food Keeping itself avail to anyone and everyone, the international cuisines served at this bistro caters to a wider community at large especially tourists who may be more accustomed to their home dishes. The Hill's Waldorf Salad ($11) is one which beckons you to forsake your diet for this is one creamy salad comprising of a variety of fruits like grapes, apple, celery and raisins. The main courses here are similar to those found in fine dining restaurants. The Lamb Rack ($34) gave off an aromatic fragrance when served and was surprisingly tender and juicy, neither too rare nor too cooked. This is one dish to endeavour into if you are not too particular about the smell of lamb. The green salad and mashed potatoes as side accompaniments makes it one hearty meal. The steak ala Hill's ($30) fell short of making its mark. The tenderloin was rather salty and tough for an order of medium-rare. Beef lovers may forgo this and opt for the lamb rack instead.
Consider the strawberry shortcake ($13) to complete the meal. Imagine a scoop of strawberry ice-cream sandwiched between the homemade shortcake and topped with fresh strawberry - this irresistible sight leaves one insatiated to the point of consuming it all for oneself. Girlie-looking and not too sweet, this is a dessert to win the hearts of ladies for that special evening.
The Service Staff strength is minimal with one waiting staff and one chef. It seems sufficient for a lazy afternoon without a full house seating for the bistro. The staff is readily available to take orders anytime the patrons are ready.
