Located along Frankel Avenue, the Blue Lobster offers fresh made-to-order seafood and pastries masterfully prepared by chefs, Francis and Jazz. Chef Francis has had over 20 years of culinary experience and ever prepared dishes for the Queen of England and Bush Senior whilst working at Shangri-La. Jazz is a meticulous pastry chef who prides herself in the freshness, attractiveness and harmony in taste of her dessert creations. Together, they deliver a fine dining that sends taste buds tingling with sensations. The Blue Lobster offers a low corkage fee of $10, and with prior notice, is flexible with special requests beyond the menu.
The Vibe Upon entering, patrons are given a sense of European-styled romance through the beige coloured tablecloths and naval blue napkins coat tabletops. Each dining spot is highlighted with a miniature, embroiled table lamp, gently illuminating its surroundings and adding to the allure. Two uniquely designed private rooms, one in an oriental style and other French, are available for use on special request.
The Food To start off your meal, try a Seared Sea Scallops with Prawns ($19). Succulent scallops seared in spices lay atop a mango salsa with a fillet of sweet prawn, drizzled in a wasabi sauce and black caviar. This three-tiered, small portioned wonder screams of freshness and flavour.
Blue Lobster has an impressive and exquisitely created menu for the mains as well as desserts. The Live Lobster Spaghetti ($39) prepared in a champagne sauce is a definite must try. A large red broiled lobster sits seductively on top of a bed of spaghetti. Combined with a sweet, creamy champagne sauce, this dish is a sinfully delightful combination, which teases patrons to indulge in more with each successive bite. The spaghetti comes in a serving fit for a romantic meal for two.
Meat lovers can find their reprieve in Blue Lobster's Char Grilled Hokubee Grain-Fed Beef Sirloin ($32). Hokubee beef is coated in a crepe mushroom sauce and then served on top of a truffle mash and asparagus. The beef was a decent gentle man's cut but served slightly over-grilled for a medium-rare order. Despite this, the beef still cut effortlessly under the steak knives and offered a tender, flavourful experience with each bite. The marmalades of fat layered between and around the prime cut of beef may be a little oily, but for others, is an addition to the flavour.
The desserts available, with their balance in colour, taste and visual splendour, will whet patron's appetites. Blue Lobster's Valrhona Chocolate Fondant ($12) is served with seasonal berries and accompanied with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. Made from premium chocolate imported from France, the warm sweet chocolate cake on the outside encases a warm melted chocolaty centre. Mixed with a tinge of spirit, this sweet tooth delight is ready to send chocoholic critics wanting more.
Service The service at Blue Lobster is warm, friendly and highly spirited. Staff members are familiar with the dishes and served them with the appropriate cutlery. Although their staff strength is small, they constantly looked out for patrons, ready to render to their needs.
